We’re a traveling couple who loves traversing the globe from the coasts of the United States to international destinations. And we LOVE sharing our knowledge to help motivate you to seek new experiences and explore new places.– Dan + Mikkel
This site grew out of a passion for travel and sharing great information with family and friends.
You are a part of that group and we welcome you. We hope to inspire and energize you and pique your curiosity about exploring the world.
Why Sometimes Home?
We’re truly sometimes home. We’re home…just sometimes…because we’re often on the road, road tripping or flying domestically and internationally. We even love cruising the ocean or rivers. For a more extensive explanation and series of events of how we became “Sometimes Home” check out this super cool timeline.
How to Explore the Site
Be sure to check out the top navigation bar. This is where we’ve organized our articles by topic. Most articles will show in multiple categories. For example, a hotel review in Paris would be in both France and Hotels.
Be sure to sign up for our newsletter for exclusive information. We send it once a month and it provides extra insight into how we plan our trips, extra savings and deals we offer our readings and more goodies.
We’ve broken down locations we extensively write about into their own categories. Here are some of our favorites:
Other areas, like Belize and Guatemala, are in our Central America category.
Be sure to navigate to the top bar and check out all our destinations.

We love sharing information about experiences, from financial travel tips and photography advice, to just how delightful our stays at various hotels were. It’s our hope these inspire you to try the same or similar experiences too! Besides, who can resist an amazing food fall in Tampa Bay, Florida or an evening Tuk Tuk Tour in Bangkok?

Mikkel loves snapping away wherever she goes (she’s a full time, professional photographer, after all!). We’ve curated a few galleries for you including some of our favorite images. Expanding any of the gallery options within the category will reveal a light box that you can manually scroll through or play as a slideshow.
